Filkins is a delightful Cotswold village of considerable antiquity with many local stone buildings, some from the 1600s. There was a large Saxon burial mound and possibly a Roman settlement. However, it's now a small village with a huge Web Site - do have a look at it - there is a wealth of information. They are also shortlisted for the Village Of The Year competition. They're already the best in the South East, so now they just have to beat 'them up North'!
The Cotswolds of course were built on wool and the Cotswold Woollen Weavers is worth a visit, with 1920s weaving machines. You can also see the wood carving centre, the stonemasons and the museum.

The village of Filkins is in South West Oxfordshire, 3 miles West of RAF Brize Norton and just to
the East of the A361 which goes from Burford to Lechlade. There are lots of ways to get there!
From Oxford the simplest is to head along the Westbound A40. You will pass the Wolvercote Roundabout
(BMW garage & BP petrol). Continue along the A40 for about 15 miles past Witney to the Burford
roundabout. Turn Left onto the A361 for Lechlade.
After 4 miles take the Left turning for Filkins (Burford Road). After 0.8 mile the car show is in
the middle of the village on the Right hand side.
If you miss Burford Road continue along the A361 for 1.1 miles and turn Left onto the B4477. Fork
Left into Filkins village; the show is now on your Left hand side after 0.5 mile.
An alternative from Oxford is to leave the A40 after 12 miles and follow the B4477 past all the
Carterton roundabouts.
From Abingdon you can take the A415 / A420 and go through Bampton - Brize Norton or Faringdon -
Lechlade.
