Dr. Lawrence Goldman is a historian in the University of Oxford, a Fellow of St. Peter's College,
and Editor of the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. He teaches modern British and American
history and has published widely on the political and social history of both nations in the
nineteenth and twentieth centuries.Dr. Goldman talked briefly about the Dictionary, its composition, and its principles of inclusion. He then showed how it can be used to trace the histories of motoring, car manufacture, automotive engineering and motor racing in Britain over the past century.
