If possible, approach from the North, via the Banbury Road.
The Radcliffe Camera
The Camera now contains two reading rooms as part of the Bodleian Library, mainly used by undergraduates. Beneath the lawn to the north is an underground book-store, built in 1912, connected with the Camera, and, by a subway, with the Old Library.
From the North
It's about two miles from the ring road. Drive into Oxford along the Woodstock Road (A4144). After the end of the bus lane, use any left turning to get to the Banbury Road and turn right. At the traffic lights turn left into Parks Road. After a few hundred yards at the next traffic lights continue straight on Parks Road. After a further few hundred yards at another set of traffic lights (the Kings Arms on your left), continue straight across the junction into Catte Street. At the end of Catte Street, there is a barrier, through which you will be escorted.
From the South or East
Follow the Oxford Ring Road North to the Peartree Roundabout or the Wolvercote Roundabout on the A44. Then drive into Oxford along the Woodstock Road and follow the directions "From the North" above.
From the West (A40 from Cheltenham)
At the Oxford Ring Road (BMW Garage & BP petrol) turn Right at the Wolvercote Roundabout on the A44. Then drive into Oxford along the Woodstock Road and follow the directions "From the North" above.
From the West (A420 from Swindon)
At the Oxford Ring Road turn Left and follow the A34 North. Leave the A34 at the next large exit, the Peartree Roundabout on the A44. Then turn Right to drive into Oxford along the Woodstock Road and follow the directions "From the North" above.
From East Oxford
Approach South Parks Road via London Road, High Street, Longwall Street and St Cross Road. After you've turned left into South Parks Road, continue to the traffic lights and turn left into Parks Road. After a few hundred yards at the next traffic lights (the Kings Arms on your left), continue straight across the junction into Catte Street. At the end of Catte Street, there is a barrier, through which you will be escorted.
